wading through
the moon's reflection —
leap of faith
September 2012
awake at dawn a nesting bird stretches out its worm
sepia moon ...
cuttlefish ripple
behind my eyes
earthquake drill —
settlers practice losing
their foothold
twilight mist –
a girl fades into
her book
spring breeze —
an angelus bell echoes
God's silence
haere ra, e manu
ki te ao o te tonga
i te ara haukore
pass on, bird
against a bleak wind —
silent path
pass on, bird,
against the bleak south wind
along empty paths
moon gazing —
a stomach rumbles
nearby
cold snap —
another penguin
crosses my path
finishing
the war of the worlds
sniffling child
spring frenzy ...
among young mall trawlers
a moveable feast
sprouting leaves —
shards of glass howl
from her fingertips
clear winter skies —
my haiku stumbles over
an extra syllable
spring rain —
between us the colour
of water
midnight rain —
neon hisses of
vacancy
dead of night —
hine-nui-te-po
closes her thighs
window palm print —
a dewdrop trickles down
her life line
by firelight
a kitten curls deeper
and deeper
summer lawn ...
a flamingo twists its neck
after the ball
a poet
drunk on reality —
vers libre
from spring
a dervish whirls
into stillness
seven veils —
the dancer becomes one
with her dance
penitential rites:
shadows keening for moonlight
on a midnight lake
empty page —
melting ice floes
paint it black
dancing light —
I read darkness
with her eyes
easing rain —
an ugly duckling
finds herself
a worm on turning in turns on a worm
next year's wine
burgeons from old stock —
vintage spring
the stillness
still out of reach —
string quartet
this spring
still only in wisps —
moonlit trail
