the ache of spring dawns —
earth-breaking bulbs
primal night —
only a fragrance
lingers
fragrant breeze —
the prosody of dreams
seeding worlds
breaking dawn —
birdsong pieces together
fragments of silence
tui,
do you sing praise
or lament?
why this spring
are my days shorter?
waxeyes sipping dew
over lunch
birds of a feather . . .
bitter spring
spring dawn —
the slow honeying
of light
a mayfly
lifts off its past —
vagrant breeze
night falls
within my arms —
hazy moon
setting sun —
as flowers close
stillness
entranced
at the heart of darkness . . .
a glow-worm
ebbing tide —
all that remains
to be seen
afternoon delight —
a tui explores the depths
of kowhai
your mirth, fantail,
squeezes the juice
out of day
birdsong
stretches beyond itself. . .
this gilded cage
warmer days and
along the horizon
banking clouds . . .
as worms rise
the pavement darkens —
falling clouds
rain forest —
a stick insect moves
with reverence
