evergreen
in summer light
in the present tense
on an empty page
ending time . . .
the universe folds back
into itself
the year ends
i step out from
my shadow
my feet crack open
with the pain of the earth
desert lament
no comfort is there — none
for they are no more
pleading
wholly innocence
barely-beens
dromedaries sail inland seas
at year's end
new year cicadas begin
to tune up
reading aloud
my tongue brings to life
a mother tongue
deeper
into nothing
the words
all ages fantail beyond knowing
time to sleep through when
a reed of itself in sound
La Niña
I feel ya
tropical heat
what luck!
the scent of freesias
while longing for them
inside preternatural nature walk
a balmy night
and my brain barely
processing words
beatific vision
through clouds of unknowing
spring cataract
a nightmare
of falling awake
fledgeling owl
peony bloom
an idea of order
beyond reason
bees too fail
to recreate the scent
of grapefruit blossoms
sprung rhythms . . .
the poems the maker
of the poet
a sea view
filled with countless flaws
missing the point
a sentence faithful to its end.
dead silence alone knows why
mob rally
a why nowhere
to be heard
in another life
I grasp the insubstantial
in a dream's last gasp
passing stranger
are my eyes
your way station
or are yours mine?
